SANAC Issue Paper #19
ISSUE: Liaison with other airport noise committees.
BACKGROUND: At the May 12, 1998 SANAC meeting this issue was presented as one of 38 issues to be considered by the committee.
ANALYSIS/DISCUSSION: The greatest good for the Orlando Sanford Airport noise reduction program will obviously come from a close relationship with Orlando International Airport (OIA) and their noise abatement committee. This as well as the aircraft control agencies that are associated with the two airports. We need to push for OIA to officially acknowledge that their traffic is having a negative impact on the noise action in arranging traffic patterns that will minimize altitude climb and decent restrictions must now be given to Sanford.
We must also contact new airport noise committees as well as those with similar problems. A close working relationship is necessary to maximize the flow of potential solutions and the possible sharing of noise sensors, data collection, and the other equipment for our committee.
CONCLUSIONS: Liaison is a necessary and untapped avenue to enhance the SANAC ability to entertain all potential solutions to the noise problem. Partnering will make possible the sharing of equipment and viable solutions to our problems.
RECOMMENDATIONS: (1) The board send a letter requesting that the chariman of the committee be added to the OIA noise committee as a non-voting member. (2) Present an outline of the Federal guidelines on onise so all members can use common terminology with specific definitions. (3) The committee contact Melborne, Daytona and Gulfport for noise abatement committe activity.
