SANAC Issue Paper #17
ISSUE: Reduce power settings on take-off and departure.
BACKGROUND: Issue assigned to the Air Traffic Control Subcommittee on May 12, 1998.
ANALYSIS/DISCUSSION: Group discussed whether it would be possible to have aircraft reduce power settings on take-off and departure in order to reduce noise.
CONCLUSIONS: It was decided that aircraft operator input would be necessary to explore the feasibility of this option.
RECOMMENDATIONS: After inquiries with several jet aircraft operator it was determined that this would not be a feasible solution to the noise problem around the Orlando Sanford Airport. Further investigation into maximum power settings to higher altitudes thus reducing time spent at lower altitudes needs to be explored.
