Pan Am begins service between Orlando Sanford and St. Louis

Sanford, FL, Wednesday, August 16, 2000 - Orlando Sanford International Airport welcomes new service today on Pan American Airways (Pan Am) between Orlando Sanford and St. Louis.  Pan Am now offers non-stop service, every day except Tuesday, to St. Louis via the MidAmerica St. Louis Airport.

The MidAmerica St. Louis Airport is located 24 miles east of downtown St. Louis in Belleville/Mascoutah, IL.  It is accessed directly from Interstate 64, making travel time to St. Louis approximately 25 minutes.

“The response to our flights to Orlando Sanford from MidAmerica are solid and accounts for the majority of our bookings from St. Louis to date,” said Pan Am President David A. Fink.  “The passenger traffic will lead to increased customer familiarity with our airline.  That, in turn, will lead to the development of increased business market traffic.  The initial response from the leisure market is a good indication that MidAmerica is a smart move for Pan Am.''

St. Louis’s regular service with Orlando Sanford departs St. Louis at 12:15 pm and arrives in Orlando Sanford at 2:55 pm.  Return service will depart Orlando Sanford at 1:45 pm and arrive in St. Louis at 2:40 pm.

Orlando Sanford International Airport now provides scheduled passenger service on Pan Am to Bangor, ME, Boston/Portsmouth, Chicago/Gary, MidAmerica St. Louis and Pittsburgh.

All scheduled service will use Pan Am's Boeing 727-200 reconfigured Clipper Class aircraft.  Reservations can be made on-line at www.FlyPanAm.com or by telephone at 1-800-FlyPanAm.
