Sanford, Fla., December 20, 2000 With the holiday season in full swing, monthly activity at Orlando Sanford International Airport will finish the year on a high note. Nearly 1.1 million total passengers have passed through the Airport so far this year, with 153,767 domestic and 939,977 international passengers, the Airport has exceeded its 1999 year-to-date figures by more than 22%. Total cargo for the year is also 22% over last year at 12,042 tons, and operations outpaced 1999 by 2.5% with 341,416 total operations. Orlando Sanford International posted 15,484 domestic passengers and 52,866 international passengers for the month of November. These numbers elevate international traffic to 16% above 1999 and domestic traffic nearly 100% above November of last year.
A newly released report by Airports Council International (ACI) placed Orlando Sanford at 31st in the world for number of aircraft operations during the first six months of 2000, and ranked the Airport second only to Miami International in the state of Florida for the same category of activity.
