May Domestic Traffic Breaks Record at Orlando Sanford International Airport

Sanford, Fla., June 29, 2000 – For the fifth straight month this year, Orlando Sanford International Airport (SFB) posted record-breaking monthly domestic traffic figures.  During the month of May, domestic passenger counts increased 146% over the same period last year.  Year-to-date, the airport has processed almost 77,000 domestic passengers, which is over 15,000 more than all of calendar year 1999.  Victor White, Executive Director of the Sanford Airport Authority commented, “We are very enthusiastic about the growth we have experienced in a relatively short amount of time.  The start of St. Louis/Mid-America service by Pan Am on August 16th, will further increase our domestic passenger base during the third and fourth quarters of 2000.”

Total passengers for the month of May increased by almost 19% over May 1999.  Total passenger figures year-to-date are also showing very strong gains.  Larry Gouldthorpe, President of Orlando Sanford International Airport Management, stated “Both international and domestic traffic figures are gathering strong momentum to potentially make 2000 a record breaking year for Orlando Sanford International Airport.”
