Orlando Sanford International Airport’s Passenger Numbers Up For June

Sanford, Fla., July 31, 2000 – As terminal construction speeds ahead, Orlando Sanford International Airport’s (SFB) monthly traffic figures continue to follow suit.  During the month of June, total passenger counts increased more than 25% over the same period last year, with 133,040 passengers serviced.  Total cargo tonnage and flight operations have also increased approximately 25% for the month.  Year-to-date numbers reflect the same trend with nearly 500,000 passengers processed by mid-year, which reflects a 28% increase over 1999.

Airport executives and airline officials continue to express their enthusiasm for the strong increases in passenger numbers. With the inauguration of Pan Am’s service to St. Louis on August 16th, combined with the start of the Airport’s busiest months of July and August, Orlando Sanford’s future figures will echo this positive trend.  In fact, year-end figures are expected to exceed one million and finish near the record numbers experienced in 1998.
