Sanford, Fla., November 17, 1999 – Orlando Sanford Airport commemorates new service on Pan American Airways between Sanford and Chicago today with an inaugural celebration. Local officials, Chicago and Gary, IN dignitaries, Pan Am officers, Gary Chicago Airport staff and board, the Sanford Airport Authority, and Orlando Sanford International, Inc., welcome Pan Am's newest flight. The event begins at 12:00 p.m. as the initial fight lands on November 17, 1999, and is followed by a celebration to include a brief presentation and refreshments. Flights from Chicago via the Gary Chicago Airport begin a service of weekly flights every day except Tuesday, arriving in Sanford, Fla. at 12:20 p.m. and returning to Chicago at 2:20 p.m. Special discounted fares are available for $84 each way and flights can be booked at the Airport or directly through Pan Am’s reservation center at 1-800-FLYPANAM. The special rate is good through January 14, 2000.

This latest addition directly links Sanford to the busy Chicago area and is attractive to both business and leisure travelers within Central Florida. The first in a series of new destinations since beginning flights to their headquarters in Portsmouth, the Chicago connection will be followed by possible service to Canada, Atlanta, St. Louis, and Puerto Rico.
