Sanford, Fla., March 29, 2001 Orlando Sanford International Airport serviced a total of 60,864 passengers in February, made up of 21,918 domestic travelers and 38,946 international. Total passenger traffic was up 25%, with domestic up 77% and international up 7%, over February 2000. Total operations were up nearly 6% for the same period. The Airport also processed 601 tons of cargo during the month. Pan American Airways carried more than 16,000 passengers in February their largest total since the airlines inception in October 1999. Pan Ams increases were aided by their new flights to Allentown, PA and Worcester, MA.
The United States Department of Transportation
just released their International Analysis for the 12 months ending March
2000. In the report Orlando
Sanford was ranked 16th in the Nation for nonstop passenger volume
and operations to/from Europe.
Orlando Sanford International Airport also ranked #1 in the United
States with the highest load factor (percentage of filled seats) on flights
to/from Europe.
