April Continues Positive Trend for Orlando Sanford International
Airport
Sanford,
Fla., May 30 As spring break winds down and summer heats up, Orlando
Sanford International Airport (SFB) continues to post impressive passenger
increases for the month of April.
Total passenger numbers for the year are 25% higher than the same
period last year. Domestic passenger activity continues to drive this strong
performance due in large part to Pan American Airways new scheduled
service. Increases are expected
to continue as Pan Am adds an additional flight to the St. Louis area, in
August, building their service at Sanford to four non-stop destinations daily.
Orlando Sanford International Airport is currently classified as a small
hub airport handling approximately one million passengers
annually. The airport remains
on schedule with the $25 Million Terminal Expansion project that will provide
carriers with a two-level terminal and seven additional
jetbridges. Completion of the
first wide-body gate position is expected June 2000, with total project
completion expected November 2000.
